Near the beginning of the game, whenever Captain Hawk offers use of his ship, the game gets stuck. All of my party members successfully sit on the boat, and both he and his parrot do as well. But after that, the game gets stuck. I cannot move or do anything in-game. All I can do is access the game's menu.
With this bug, I cannot advance further into the game without having to use the cheats, which I'd prefer not to do.
Also, when using higher resolutions, the game is rather choppy. I'm using an AMD 1.5ghz box with plenty of RAM and I can easily notice a very large decrease in the game's performence when using 512x384 or 640x480 resolutions.
I had this same problem. Not all of the ppl would get on the ship, they would stay to the left almost out of view and pace...
I remember i messed with their routine, really sorry I can't be more specific I haven't dealt with this in a long time.
Looking into the exult logs I think I find the answer so I come back. I really wonder how quickly I read Ryan's post, I was really off ... Oh well maybe I'm just tired
-night
I had the same choppiness when using the native Win XP graphics driver. After I switched to the latest Nvidia drivers it completely fixed it. (Im using an original Geforce card )
Oh, the bug where the Avatar is still standing on the dock while
everyone gets on the boat? Yeah, that's a bug in the original. I had
that a lot too, the first time I played it. I don't remember what I
did to get around it though.
That isn't my problem... Everyone does sit down successfully. I tried double clicking on the plank and the sail, but it doesn't do anything. Clicking on anything at all doesn't work. All I'm able to do is move the mouse around and press escape to go to the menu.
I just figured out the bug. Three people were supposed to get on the boat. All three NPCs show up, but one of them pops up outside of the dock. So he leaves (and moves off the screen) to walk around the dock, but never shows up again. To fix the problem, I simply used the hack editor and extended the dock so he didn't have to walk off the screen to get on it.
