Biginner Ubuntu user Ultima 7 file not found error

I just started using linux , ubuntu. I have installed Ultima 7 with exult . but it can not find the files for the games. how do i tell it where to find them. Some threads say to edit a reg file I can not find . I do so wish to play this game HELP!

You need to edit the hidden file .exult.cfg in %HOME
Or place them in a special location where exult will find it automatically http://exult.info/docs.php#path_config_nix
