what version of XP and what version of XP (Home or Professional?)?
Also, you can't load savegames from the original. Also, make sure you have the games installed in a path with no spaces in it (e.g. C:\exult\blackgate and NOT "C:\exult\The Black Gate")

well, there you have it. Move the games somewhere else and edit exult.cfg accordingly.
