I was just running the most recent snapshots, wanting to fiddle around with Exult Studio. I read that when map editor mode was enabled, studio should pop up. It wasn't doing so with RC2, so I switched to the most recent snapshot. Anyhow, I noticed there was no music. I did a forum search, read the FAQ, and read about the volume_curve setting, which I had edited before. The odd thing was, its value was set to ' f '. I know it's supposed to be a number followed by a decimal, 1.00000 for example. I change it to such, as located in the example exult.cfg file, I play (Midi set to GM), and no music. I close exult, look at the cfg file, and volume_curve is set to f again.
I've tried changing the device used, and while that setting stays the same in exult.cfg, the volume_curve is set to f once again. stderr reads:

It's odd, because I can uninstall, go back to RC2, and get audio to work fine. Just that Studio wont start up with map edit mode. Any suggestions?

Re: volume_curve = f
volume curve is a bug we caused in the unstable branch.
RC2 and stable branch no longer support Exult Studio. We had to disable Exult Studio support with RC2 as Exult Studio is only available as snapshot and it only works correct with the Exult version of about the same "age".
Why there is no music for you is a mystery to me.

That would be because of the unstability of the unstable branch

Re: volume_curve != f
No music is most likely due to the volume curve problem. Also the problem effects both branches, not just unstable branch.
I've 'fixed' the problem in both branches.
