Gumps and darkness
I don't know if this has been brought up or not, but when it's night time or when you are in a dark cave, all menus and gumps are darkened too, and sometimes you can't even read the words... any plans to change this or is it just "how it's going to be" ? Because I know it was like this in the original

Re: Gumps and darkness
I think Exult doesn't make them as dark as the original did. We use the 'twilight/dawn' palette.
Re: Gumps and darkness
Yes, Exult has toned down the darkness.
In the original, it was near impossible to see anything if you didn't ahve a light source.

Re: Gumps and darkness
Used to really tick me off too. How do you find a torch with your mouse when you can't see anything. In real-life, you could feel for it.

You need a force-feedback mouse.

Re: Gumps and darkness
Is feed-back support too much to ask for?

Re: Gumps and darkness
Yeah but... is it possible to have the light for the menus be seperate from everything else? Or does it not work that way
Re: Gumps and darkness
Apparently the light/dark is not the local palette, but the umm(can't find the word here) palette, so it effects everything on screen. Something tells me that it was easier to make day/night colours that way, rather than finding four or so different colour replacements.
I ran into a problem like this when I programmed in Basic long ago
Sorry if I'm off my rocker, I was just trying to explain the best and only way I knew, I'm not 100% sure I'm right, but as far as I know the light and dark cycle is more like a permanent palette thing, that all the game objects use.

Re: Gumps and darkness
yeah, that's the reason
Re: Gumps and darkness
One thing I did notice, the sun doesn't 'set' or 'rise' anymore. It just goes dark or light.
Re: Gumps and darkness
Yeah, kinda bugs me, I enjoyed evening tea with Sherry The Mouse, afterwards we had sex in Lord British's balcony, but due to the blasted efforts at curtailing beastiality(damn you exult team=P ) I HAVE ONLY SUNSHINE AND DARKNESS.
