u7o serv request...
Does anyone know where I might get a copy of the U7O server? They didn't release one on their sourceforge site but I'm not sure a rare copy doesn't exist.
Re: u7o serv request...
To whom it may concern,
You can download the U7O ("Blackrock") client and server from the following German web page:
http://www.meb-mueller.de/ultima/downloads.htm
I don't know if it's the final releases, so you'll have to find out for yourself. The best approach would just be to compile from the project's CVS.
If this is another appeal to the notion of an "Exult Online", the issue is moot. The U7O ("Blackrock") engine was written in Pascal. Exult is written in C++. Besides, we already have Ultima Online (with free shards thanks to UOX3 and Sphere) for multiplayer purposes. It runs under Windows and Linux (using Wine/WineX or the OSI Linux client).
Basically, as previous forum postings have shown, we all have vastly differing views on how an "Exult Online" should be designed. Some would have it a MMORPG despite the issue of bandwidth and PK'ing. Others might take the LAN approach, restricting the number of players per game session (i.e. Freeciv).
Anyway, the U7O project has been dead for 12 months.

Re: u7o serv request...
Thank you for the link.
Seeing that I have been to their sourceforge page, I would know that they have been dead for quite a bit, as well I don't intend to beg for "exult online". On the other hand I think if I can get this to work I might could play with a friend, even if all we did was just walk around and look at each others shape.
I can't really get into UO, theres no sitting, no sleeping...might as well take my world away.
