Ultima VIII tool u8shp.exe for Windows

Hi,

anyone has the gimp-plugin for editing Ultima 8 shapes for Windows platform compiled?

I would like to modify some of the fonts to add some spanish characters.

I'll try and get a hold of Kirben, when he shows in #pentagram or #exult tonight. Maybe he can compile a new version. The old one will likely not work with present Gimp anymore (Exult's plugin needed an update to work again).

Hi Dominus,

I will thank a lot it, I want to change the fonts (add some spanish chars) and maybe 1 or 2 gumps with spanish texts. It will make my task easier, if not I will have to create an extractor/importer for this images.

I'm using GIMP 2.8 since my editions/translations in U7, that U7 gimp plugin worked like a charm. I hope it Works with it (I think gimp is at 2.9 stable version right now).

Untested, as it seems to lack any documentation.
I don't think there were any previous builds.

Oh, thanks a lot! Yeah, this has been very fast!

I've just tried to use the plug-in. At least Reading shp files.
Steps:

1.- Copied to C:\Program Files\GIMP 2\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins (is detected) files are in PSHP format.
2.- Open Gimp
3.- Used flexpack to extract shapes from U8FONTS.FLX
4.- Renamed extracted .fxo to .pshp
5.- Using U8PAL.PAL
6.- When I open (or open with layer) a .pshp file, like 0000.pshp, this is the result:



Is this normal? Using another graphical viewer it give me more colorfull image or at least it has 2-3 different colors.

Maybe I'm doing wrong something...

don't use the pal, when it asks for a palette just press ok without chosing one, as with the u7 shp plugin.
this way it might work.

Mmm... I'm having problems also... Sure I'm doing something wrong.

In fact, the time it opened (the previous image i've posted) was with Open Layers menu option. Using Open... only menú option it does not with fonts. It charges layers for the shape, but there is none visible. I can open some gumps, although it is very difficult to see the real drawing...

Well, anyway, I will try to do something, although I don't know how. If u7shapes format is the same as u8shapes (which I doubt) I could use the same tools from Exult...
