Hey all,
this is sorta off-topic as it doesn't really relate to Exult, but to Exult's forum.
Has anyone noticed that once in a while (I guess when you hit a badly configured round-robbined webserver), the page is offered to be downloaded (as a PHP) instead of viewed in the browser?
Cancelling the request and refreshing often works but it's really annoying.
Am I the only one who experiences that?

Re: [OT] issues with webserver
I haven't experienced that, no, but I *have* been experiencing problems.
What I have been experiencing are irregular problems loading the phorum pages; sometimes, when I click to open a thread (or to post a message), it "cancels" part-way through and I end up with a blank page. Hitting refresh one or two times usually fixes it, though.
I also saw 3 or so spam posts last week which got through the filters, but which I promptly deleted; it is possible that there is a spammer (or maybe more than one) "attacking" us in an attempt to bypass the filters. Or maybe SF is having problems.

Re: [OT] issues with webserver
I think SF has problems, I noticed something similar (to Marzo's post, never saw Artaxerxes problem happen) on one or two other project websites. It's quite annoying when you post something and sometimes the post got through before the browser stops sometimes not
I also did not see any Spam lately, since Willem did whatever he did months ago, I only saw one ro maybe two successfull Spamposts and even those were more likely tries and did not really contain spam...

maybe I should specify I use Firefox on Linux... maybe the effect differs on other platforms.

Re: [OT] issues with webserver
It is the server. There aren't just have problems with the forums. Other sections have the same problems. I have to hit refresh just to reach a page a decent portion of the time. Sometimes quite a few times.
Re: [OT] issues with webserver
I have always experienced all of the above mentioned problems with this website, including that of Firefox trying to download list.php instead of showing the forum page.

Re: [OT] issues with webserver
Internet Explorer doesn't seem to be having the same problems. I used an ancient version of it though.
Re: [OT] issues with webserver
From time to time, I noticed major slowdowns (which sometimes ended with a timeout) and blank pages (no html at all) with both ie 7 *and* ff. However, I never got this PHP-problem.
Re: [OT] issues with webserver
I used to get the PHP download problems once in a while. Recently however, almost every time I click on a link, it results in the PHP script being downloaded rather than being parsed & displayed. I'm using FF on Linux. I've noticed this phenomenon once when a snafu in one of my PHP scripts went into an endless loop bringing my web server to its knees. Could it be that SF servers are being overloaded?
Re: [OT] issues with webserver
I've been seeing slow-loading and connection timeouts for several months now. Maybe the server is overloaded.
