Which version to use? (New to Exult)
Hello all! I am a long-time fan of Ultima VII, and I have heard about your great work in putting together Exult, so I thought I'd give it a try. My question for the group is, which version of Exult should I use? Should I download and use the Official v1.4.9 rc1, or should I use the v1.5.x Snapshots that contain the most up to date work? I'm also concerned about the bug that causes random objects in the games to disappear. Please let me know what you think I should do. Thank you!
Re: Which version to use? (New to Exult)
Use the snapshot. At the slow rate we are developing atm, it's quite safe

Do the 1.5.x snapshots still have the objects that disappear bug? Er, the disappearing objects bug? Hi Google!

Does version 1.2 have the objects dissappearing bug?
I am waiting for Exult to have that problem solved before playing the game. Finally able to get it with GOG releasing it.
I have no worries waiting for it to be solved, but don't want to start it until it is sorted and would much prefer to use the excellent Exult engine.

1.2 does have the possibility of the bug but doesn't manifest it as far as we know.
Of course 1.2 has many other bugs affecting gameplay and we really can't recommend using it.

Re: Which version to use? (New to Exult)
Ive finished VII plenty of times with 1.2/1.4/snapshots and have luckily never encountered this bug in any of my games..
This is just VII though.. Ive only finished Serpent Isle once and that was a couple years ago with one of the 1.4 snapshots.. Still no bug in SI either for me.
I ran through both games using the Origin hint books from start to finish, so perhaps its caused by doing something 'outside' the normal course of the game that triggers it.. (Maybe its payback for trying to rob the Brittanian Mint or something haha)
Jiminy, just make sure you save regularly. If you run into it just go back to an older save.. Its no reason not to start playing whats still one of the greatest RPGs ever written!!
