Can't run Exult on Windows 7

Hi,

First off, I want to thank you guys for making Exult. I've played U7 when it was released in the 90's and have very fond memories of the game I've played it again over time using Exult, which runs great. However, I'm now trying to run it on Windows 7, the 32 bit and 64 bit version. After starting Exult and coming to the main screen, I'm unable to enter the setup screen, which just stays black. When I start the game, it loads (blue flickering screen in the case of Serpent Isle) and it then crashes to desktop.

Have I overlooked something?

Any help would be much appreciated!!

What version of exult, version of U7 and where have you u7 installed on your pc?

Ive tried with Exult 1.4.9 and 1.5. The weird thing is that if I install version 1.2 I can enter the setup screen using Win7 but not in these later versions. Ive installed Serpernt Isle in c:\serpent. I dont know which version of U7 I have, but the file serpent.com is dated 15-3-1993... Is that of any help?

you should be able to tell me from what medium you installed the game - original floppy disks, complete u7 CD, Ultima Collection, Gog.com...

btw, that you cannot access the setup is caused by a bug in Exult which requires you to have BG/FoV installed to see the setup menu.

But everything you set in there can be set while playing the game as well.
