Exult Shuts Down Ultima7 At Start

Well sir ... I'm playing the game and do a save ... the next thing I know the game shuts down. I reopen the Ultima game and as soon as it loads up ... the games completely shuts down. I was hoping a cold boot would solve the problem but no luck. I am running Windows XP Pro 32 bit. Anyone know what is going on?

Also how can I get the game save file to work on a different computer. I have two computers with Ultima7 ... instead of doing every thing twice I would like to use the game save file to update. I tried copying the game save file and installing it on my other computer, but there was no change in the game. Anyone know what is going on with that too?

Also I saw in the FAQ that you need to restore to an earlier game but doesn't state how to do it.

Another question how can you go back to an earlier game it the game won't open at all? Does the game have to be reinstalled?

I forgot to mention that I have the latest version ... the Exult 1.4.9rc1 ... I don't see any way to edit the earlier post ... sorry.

Please use a newer snapshot, the 1.4.9rc1 had some nasty bugs in it that should be fixed somewhat.
To restore to an earlier save, start a new game and the open the save/load menu to load an earlier save.
You can take your savegames and load them on another computer. In the docs is a Windows specific instructions where to find your savegames.

And your qraduple post is ok, we are keeping the forum as simple as possible but that means we don't have an edit option (unless you are a moderator )

The problem is I can't get into the game as soon as it loads up the game it shuts down so it is impossible for me to get to the save/load menu. Does this mean I have to uninstall and re-install the game?

I thought I had the newest ... what is the newest?

Does it still shut down when you start a new game instead of clicking on journey onward?

Oh ... I didn't try that ... duh ... yes it does go to a new game . Okay I see now. I just go and load the game again. Thanks ... and is that exult 1.5 the program I should have even thought it is unstable?

Yes, please try the 1.5 snapshot. Your problem sounds like the severe disappearing objects bug we had and which should be fixed by the snapshot...

Do you mean the Knight's Bridge piece? There is a book in the house south of the game where you can read about it.

Do I uninstall the old program and reinstall the update or install over the old program?

In a house south of the game ... not the maze house right?

Also I'm not following how to transfer the gamesave from one computer to another. I see where the cfg file is and I see game save files, but when I copy those an put them in another computer the game in that computer doesn't change ...in other words the game save file doesn't work.

Waiting to see if I have to delete the old version before installing the new.

You just install the snapshot over the old version (to the same folder).

After transfering the savegames you need to load one to change your current game.
