Some ways to make Exult better (imho):
- Add an option to enable/disable the "broken by design" features
- Put in some little touches to the story for people who have played Ultima 7 before, to keep it fresh (okay, so Im working on a new story. That don't mean everyone else can be complacent)
Some ways to make ExultStudio better (imho):
- Make the Win32 version work!! :-/
- Add image editing (developers: Win32 version of a front end for IPack is @ www.ultimadragon.0catch.com/IPack Front End.zip)
- Maybe direct editing of shapes through the browser?
- Above all for me, since I play largely on my Windows XP labtop, if for a version of ExultStudio with the communications problem fixed. If you ahve that fixed, please send it to me in binary, or even better, release it!
Some minor beefs:
- Cheat screen says teleporting is not yet available but F3 brings up teleport screen
- Pens, quills, etc. come up as "desk items" when in the original they had name based on the frame they were in
- When I try to change Avatar shape in SI it keeps reverting back
- Usecode errors tend to crap Exult up royally

- broken by design:
music looping and combat have been fixed somewhat. But in fact if you want something as an option please send us a patch and I'm sure someone of the team will make it choosable.
- Story touch up:this is for fans to do.We also plan to make a "sourceforge island" on which you might get some additional items (like an actual keyring for BG).
Studio:
- works for me in XP Pro. Do you use the Home version? Maybe there is something missing in this version of XP that we use...
- image editing: why reinvent the wheel if there are way better tools for editing images? We have plugins for Gimp and Photoshop/PaintShopPro. The only thing to do is making the call for editing...
- teleport: if you played/cheated in the original there was a cheat feature to teleport to specific locations by< typing the coordinates. THIS doesn't work. The F3/alt+t cheat are mentioned in the documentation
- there are some shape names not put in yet...
- well, what do you expect? You can only change between the Avatar skins/gender. as some frames in other shapes are not there for the Avatar to use.

Most of these 'features' are broken by design because fixing/changing them would either take too much time, or would be too likely to break most of Exult. The first group will have to wait until someone decides to take that time, the second group will have to wait until after version 1.0.

That function is supposed to let you enter exact x,y,z coordinates. The teleport screen works by clicking. (only sets x,y, quite inaccurately)

I improved this a lot in my local copy, but I can't commit the changes to CVS just yet. I need to test it a lot more, first.

The com problems 'seem' to be limited to your machine only. Can you copy and paste the entire error message that you get.

When tracing debug, I go mapedit mode, try to manipulate NPC, ExultStudio gives:

I then try to connect gameserver:

I cant browse shapes or anything.
It looks to be a communication errer between the gameserver and the studio. Not certain why. This is on my labtop: Windows 98 pc, p300, 64 meg ram.
Any help greatly appreciated,

But you said you needed some communications problems fixed for your WinXP labtop(you mean laptop?), because that is what you play on mostly.

XP is this one ... I fixed this one (only after modifying the .glade file) - but no such luck on the 98 laptob. 98 is the laptop Im making most of the stuff on - Giridion and UsecodeStudio included.
Btw, I updated the snapshot of UsecodeStudio. I will make a .ucf function file that UCC should be able to read, unless you messed up . Highlighting is also in pas but needs interface, as is syntax check. I need help with making stdin _not_ dos though. Anyone on that or the problems above?
