Hi there, I'm brand new to Exult, so I really don't know much about it, or about how much is the same as with the old Ultima, but first of all I gotta say that it rocks! Boy, that brings back memories *g* anyway, I do have some slight problems:
I can't train with or challenge any of the knights in monitor. (I want Dupre's shield back!)
Is it normal that the Pikeman allowing you to train and fight in Monitor is not there? I tried going there at different times but he won't show up. what did I do wrong?
any help is appreciated.

Re: Training in Monitor
This is a bug, but as far as I know, it's not caused by Exult. It happened in the original SI as well, for reasons unknown to me at least. Sometimes the pikeman would just disappear and never return, which kinda sucked.
Re: Training in Monitor
Could you submit a bug report with a savegame? I haven't seen this problem before (although I have seen one where one of the knights had disappeared from the game).
Re: Training in Monitor
Hi Dr. Code,
unfortunately I started over after trying for one hour to get the guy to come back. (About that time I realized, that I would lose about 2 hrs gametime by starting again, but would never see the guy again.) I'll try a couple of times to make him vanish again. But probably it won't work if I try to do it on purpose (things like that never happen when I want them to happen)
Anyway. my new game is not completely free of bugs. Quite often it just crashes for no apparant reason. (Feels almost like playing Fallout *G*)
Is Exult responsible for things like that? I seem to remember that the Ultima of old never did that to me.
this brings me to another question: How do I tell if my savegame is screwed?
Oh well, the way I understand things Exult is still in its beta, and for a beta I think it works great keep up the good work!

Re: Training in Monitor
This bug really annoyed me on the original game, but I think I tracked down why it happened. Every time I tried to take some some food from the banquet hall (or even just move it) then it seemed to cause the pikeman to vanish. Solution - leave that grub alone even though it was prepared in your honour.
Re: Training in Monitor
No that probably isnt it. I take all of the food there and it doesnt crash
Re: Training in Monitor
Yes, I don't think it's the food either. I used to play this game really extensively back in my childhood. I moved everything I could, but I never experienced that before. Oh well, who needs to train anyway?
Re: Training in Monitor
The disappearing pikeman might have something to do with the banquet. I had him dissappear once on me right after the banquet. He was there before, but afterwards he was gone forever.
Re: Training in Monitor
now that you mention it, he *was* gone right after the banquet for me, too! well, I got a workaround for that now... Finished Silverseed first, earned me 21000 XP (btw: is that Exult giving me THAT many XP, or is it normal?) so anyway, now I can train before the banquet... of course that's not the best solution...
Re: Training in Monitor
Doesn't seem consistent, though, as this problem didn't occur when I played a few months ago. BTW, there's an egg by his desk that should recreate him when you approach from a certain distance.
