Nope, that's the correct spelling.

From Websters:

Chattel: n. 1 a) a movable item of personal property, as a piece of furnature, an automobile, a head of livestock, etc.......

Ernesto was clearly saying that the Mundanes were no better than livestock.

I noticed a *real* typo in U7:BG.
The sign on the Trinsic inn says "Honorable Hound."
It should be "honourable."

Of course, the game is supposed to have a mideval english feel to it. Hence the names Britannia, Lord British, etc. In fact, I'm sure that's why they used the word "chattel" instead of "cattle", and there are liberal uses of "thee" and other colloquial words.

In that context, it could be argued that they should have observed the British spelings of words (and if in fact they were, then that is indeed a "typo").

Disclaimer: I'm an American. I don't claim to have any defence of using the "-our" suffix in place of "-or". To me, "-our" makes the same sound as "-oor", as in "poor", or, better yet, "four". And I certainly don't pronounce color as "coloor".

Now I don't mean to start an off topic flame war on British-isms here. I'm just pointing out why us yanks find that spelling pecular. :-)

I'm American, and I find myself using both at different times. In fact, I'm more inclined to use 'our' at the end. I never spell it armor, I spell it armour.
*shrug*
I guess I should keep it up since I'm going to be schooling in England next year :)

To each their own, I say.

From a MUD (in the US) based on "The Wheel of Time":

> help armour
-----------------------
General help for armour
-----------------------

Armour is bacon. Armor is an item worn for body protection, made of
steel, leather, or wood. Some armor is even made of padding.

Interesting to notice the possible root of the word chattel... As all of you know the French and the English have had a long interaction language-wise. Consequently I woudn't be surprised to see a connection between the english word "chattel" and the french word "cheptel" (pronounced shep'tale) which mean the livestock.
